LonJoG - the first Fridays tour - left Hyde Park Corner at midnight on Friday the 16th June and rolled northward, over the lush green countryside of the Home Counties and the East Midlands in to the gentle splendour of Yorkshire, up and over the mighty hills of Durham, Northumberland and the Southern Lowlands, through Edinburgh and up through Perth, Aviemore and Inverness, across the strange solitude of the Ord of Caithness to our destination - John O'Groats. It took our (delightfully) mixed bunch the first night and the eight days after to cover the 656 miles on this, the most sociable of adventures.
Our support drivers, captained by the remarkable Ian, picked up our luggage from campsites, bed and breakfasts, guest houses and hotels, and followed along behind, dispensing encouragement and tea to the fifty two that cyclists who came for the first weekend and the thirty five who went on to the end of the road. No written description can do justice to the friendship and the fortitude shown by the Fridays, so I'm going to let Ian's photographs do the talking
